Another Congress adviser joins BJP and changes voting equation at Chandigarh Municipal Corporation

In line with their counterparts in Punjab, a Congress councilor from Chandigarh, Gurcharan Jeet Singh Kala joined the BJP on Wednesday, increasing the number of BJP councilors from 13 to 14. The number now equals the AAP councilors in the municipality.

Meanwhile, with incumbent MP Kirron Kher retaining voting rights, the strength of BJP councilors will now be 15. Gurcharan Jeet Singh Kala is a councilor in ward number 20.

Kala joined the BJP in the presence of BJP Chandigarh Unit Chairman Arun Sood, MP Kirron Kher and Mayor Sarabjit Kaur Dhillon. Kala is the second Congress adviser to join the BJP after the MC polls, which were held in December 2021.

In January Councilor Harpreet Kaur Babla, wife of Devinder Babla, joined the BJP. Kala ran on a congressional ticket in the municipal elections and won in ward number 20 in Hallo Majra and Behlana.

BJP Chandigarh Unit Chairman Arun Sood said Kala was returning home as he served as BJP State General Secretary Kisan Morcha twice in the past. He added that Kala’s return to the party will strengthen the party and further accelerate development work.

Sood assured him that he would get due respect in the party.

MP Kirron Kher said that only the BJP is always at the forefront of carrying out the development works while no other party has interest in the development. She said that with Kala’s joining the party, the city’s development works will be further strengthened. She also said she’s here to do people’s jobs.

Meanwhile, former councilor Devinder Singh Babla, who played a key role in getting Kala to join, also said that BJP gives due respect to its workers, that’s why people from other parties are joining. the BJP.
