CM Yogi’s Gift to Prime Minister Modi’s Parliamentary Constituency, Varanasi Municipal Corporation Expanded
The Yogi government on Tuesday offered the parliamentary constituency of Varanasi to Prime Minister Modi. The Yogi government has given cabinet approval to increase the scope of Varanasi Municipal Corporation. To increase the reach, Nagar Palika Parishad Ramnagar and Nagar Panchayat Sujabad were merged into Municipal Corporation. With this, Varanasi Municipal Corporation will become 18,256,017 hectares. Its population will now become 16 lakh 36 thousand 659.
The decision was taken during the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. After the construction of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor, there was a huge increase in the number of devotees here. That is why the state government has made this decision keeping in mind the need to increase the basic facilities in Varanasi.

At present, the area of Municipal Corporation of Varanasi is 16,716,617 hectares and the population is 15 lakh 67 thousand 219 as per 2011 census. The area of Nagar Panchayat Sujabad is 1177 hectares and its population is of 20308. Nagar Palika Parishad Ramnagar has an area of 362.40 hectares and a population of 49132.
Once these are included in Varanasi Municipality, development plans can be made as needed. At present, many central and state government projects are in progress here. The cable car service will also start soon for people’s convenience.
