Members of Mastodon, Dethklok, Anthrax, and Municipal Waste cover Judas Priest’s “Screaming For Vengeance”:

Jordan Olds great video series Two minutes ’til late at night has come a long way in the past two years, but he might be at his best when he gives metal heavyweights a chance to pay a goofy tribute to their heroes. This is certainly what happens in the last Two minutes ’til late at night cover, a tribute to British metal lords Judas Priest.

In this week’s video, Jordan Olds and friends tackle “Screaming For Vengeance,” the title track from Priest’s 1982 monster album. Cry out for revenge the cover would have been “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin'”, but Two minutes ’til late at night Rarely goes the obvious route.) In the impassioned and faithful cover, Jordan Olds shares the lead role with Mastodon vocalist and drummer Brann Dailor. Dailor dresses like Rob Halford to deliver those groaning lead vocals, and he dresses up as the fiery Priest drummer Dave Holland when he plays drums.

There’s also another drummer on the cover: Gene Hoglan, who played stints in legendary metal bands like Dark Angel, Death and Testament. Hoglan is also part of the team behind Dethklok, the fictional metal band Adult Swim, and the cover of “Screaming For Vengeance” also features Dethklok contributor and Danny Elfman collaborator Nili Brosh on guitar. Jonathan Donais of Shadows Fall and Anthrax also plays guitar. Phil Hall, the Richmond musician who has played with Municipal Waste and Iron Reagan and Cannabis Corpse, handles bass. Below, watch the cover of “Screaming For Vengeance” and listen to the original Judas Priest.

Over the weekend, Jordan Olds also paid tribute to the late Mark Lanegan. Working entirely solo, Olds covered “Hit The City,” the PJ Harvey collaboration that Lanegan released in 2004. Check out the cover and Lanegan’s original below.
