The Adult Female Day Secondary School in East Kidwai Nagar will soon be upgraded to Grade 12, New Delhi City Council (NDMC) Deputy Speaker Satish Upadhyay said on Wednesday. The school, which was established in 1990-91 to provide facilities to restart the education of dropout students in any grade, currently offers education up to grade 10.

“The aim of the school is to provide educational facilities for out-of-school girls from the weaker strata of society, especially those who drop out of school due to family circumstances. Many women start jobs to supplement their family’s income, girls whose parents cannot afford to continue their education or who are expected to take care of their siblings,” said Upadhyay, who visited the school on Wednesday.

“The school was established to give education to these women so that they can continue their studies. The school was upgraded to class 10 level from the 1994-95 session. It will soon be upgraded in class 12. The school provides educational facilities for those who have previously been employed but wish to improve their academic qualifications,” he said.

The total number of students enrolled in the school this year is 242. According to class enrollment as of April 2022, 66 students are studying in the 15-20 age group while three students are studying in the age group. 20 years old. more. “Learning is a continuous process and the true learner is always looking for ways to learn from anyone and everyone. Upgrading the school to grade 12 will benefit more students of this type,” Upadhyay said.
