Siliguri Municipal Corporation failed in dengue fever prevention: Opposition leader Amit Jain – Siliguri Times
Siliguri, September 10: Siliguri is witnessing an increase in dengue fever cases day by day. Speaking on the matter, Opposition Leader Amit Jain claimed that the Siliguri Municipal Corporation had failed to mitigate the outbreak of the disease.
Speaking to reporters today about the matter, Amit Jain expressed his anguish against the municipality. He added that Siliguri’s drainage system is poor. Work has been at a standstill in various sites for several days. The number of mosquitoes is increasing due to the accumulation of water there. The awareness campaign is not properly conducted by the SMC. As a result, the dengue fever epidemic is increasing. He also said that proper arrangements should be made for the treatment of dengue fever patients through the state government’s Swasthya Sathi health cards.
Meanwhile, Mayor-Council of the municipality Dulal Dutta said that of all the wards under the municipality, wards No. 04 and 05 are the dirtiest. Drains are not cleaned properly. The dengue infection rate is high in these areas. He also said it is the responsibility of councilors to work in said neighborhoods as they should be more aware. Only then can the dengue epidemic stop.
